SIA “TM Recycling” improves waste management with EU support
SIA “TM Recycling”, with co-financing from the European Union Cohesion Fund, is launching a significant environmental protection project aimed at developing a separate waste collection system and improving the recycling of hazardous household waste.
As part of the project, new warehouse-type containers for environmentally harmful electrical and electronic waste will be placed at the company’s scrap metal collection sites, enabling more efficient collection and management of discarded hazardous electrical equipment.
The main objective of the project is to increase the company’s capacity to receive and transfer hazardous electrical and electronic waste for recycling, improve hazardous waste management infrastructure, and promote public education on proper waste sorting.
Planned Activities:
- Purchase and installation of 14 new warehouse-type containers at various TM Recycling branches across Latvia;
- Public awareness and education on the proper handover and sorting of hazardous waste;
Expected Results:
- TM Recycling will be able to receive and manage at least 140 tonnes of hazardous household waste annually;
- The efficiency of hazardous waste sorting and recycling will increase;
- The amount of environmentally harmful waste entering the environment will decrease.
Funding and Timeline:
- Eligible project costs: EUR 43,950.90
- EU Cohesion Fund co-financing: EUR 37,358.27
